About

I'm Ronan, a narrative cinematographer and documentary filmmaker. My work transports viewers into different worlds and gives them the opportunity to discover, reflect, and empathize.

I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, where I developed my love for hiking and the redwoods in tandem with capturing the natural beauty of the California coast on camera. For my 10th birthday, I got a book on how to create in-camera visual effects. As soon as I reversed a video of me throwing a ball to make it look like I used the force to summon it, I fell in love. My free time was quickly consumed by learning how to use After Effects and Premiere and corralling my friends into making short films. There was something magical to me about being able to control time and light to tell stories. As I started to make documentaries about the world around me, I found that I could use my lens to help people see and experience points of view they wouldn't normally be exposed to. Fast forward through the years, and I now live in Vermont, where I’m grateful to still be using the lens to find and craft unique stories.

My films have played in festivals across the country and featured on PBS. My documentary work for Emmy nominated filmmaker Kelly Nyks has won the Mia Market Best Pitch award at DocsBarcelona and the San Sebastian Best Pitch award at FIPADOC. Arte/ZDF has committed as broadcaster for the German and French Markets for one of our series. FrameUp, my director’s viewfinder app has been downloaded and used thousands of times across the world and can be found on sets of all sizes.

I'm based in Vermont and the San Francisco Bay Area, and available to travel anywhere.
