My sense of composition was born in the redwood forests of Northern California where I grew up hiking, never without a camera. There is something about the fractaline geometry of the forest that I find fascinating. Regardless of what's in front of the lens, I find myself playing with the geometry of the scene. How can I get the light and shadow to be as pleasing as when I look up at the sky peaking through the forest canopy?
